Fabricate repair parts and practise locking devices
You are a second year apprentice in the component workshop.
What has happened
The corrosion repair on VH-DDA needs a doubler and a small bracket fabricated from 2024-T3 aluminium sheet to the drawing in the structural repair manual. Nathan Pham wants you to draw the material from the bonded store correctly, mark out and cut the parts, deburr and check them against the drawing with calibrated measuring tools, and record the material batch on the task card. Because of last month's fuel drain valve occurrence he also wants you to practise safety wiring on the workshop training rig and have it inspected. All work must use current approved data and the tool control procedure.
Deliverables
- Task card with material traceability and measurements
- Fabricated doubler and bracket presented for inspection
- Safety wiring exercise inspected
- Tool sign out and return record

Evidence guide
Check that the data revision was confirmed, the material was traced by heat number from the register to the task card, and calibrated tools were used and recorded. Parts must be measured against the drawing with non-conformances identified honestly. The safety wiring must meet the standard practice for direction, tension and twist. Observe safe use of hand tools and housekeeping.
