CAQA AeroTech Maintenance
CAQA AeroTech Maintenance is an approved maintenance organisation that keeps general aviation and regional aircraft airworthy for flying schools, charter operators, aeromedical services, agricultural operators and private owners across Queensland and northern New South Wales. The business maintains single and twin engine piston aircraft, twin turboprop regional aircraft and light helicopters, and its workshops overhaul piston engines, repair structures and composite components, and test and repair avionics and electrical equipment. Every task is performed against the approved maintenance data, recorded on a work pack and certified by an appropriately licensed and authorised engineer before the aircraft is released to service.
AeroTech operates from a main hangar with structures, engine and component workshops at Archerfield, a line maintenance station at Sunshine Coast Airport that turns aircraft around between flights, and an avionics and component workshop at Toowoomba. The hangar runs a day shift from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm and an afternoon shift to 11:00 pm during heavy check inputs, with line maintenance rostered around customer flying programs seven days a week. Six departments cover line maintenance, base maintenance and structures, avionics and electrical, the component and engine workshop, maintenance planning, stores and technical records, and quality, safety and training. Licensed engineers hold company authorisations for the aircraft types and systems they certify.
Airworthiness and safety are governed by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority's rules for maintenance organisations, licensed engineers and continuing airworthiness, and the business runs a safety management system with hazard reporting, occurrence investigation, a maintenance error management program and human factors training for every technical worker. Quality is assured through an exposition, controlled procedures, an independent inspection regime for flight critical tasks, calibrated tool control and traceable parts from approved suppliers. Work health and safety covers aircraft jacking, fuel, hydraulic fluids, noise, working at height on wings and stabilisers, and fatigue on extended shifts, and every controlled document carries a code, owner, version and review date.
