Base Maintenance and Structures
Base Maintenance and Structures carries out scheduled inspections, heavy checks, structural repairs, corrosion treatment and modifications in the Archerfield hangar. The team plans each input with Planning, works from task cards and approved data, and manages independent inspections on flight critical systems.
What the team is accountable for
- Deliver scheduled checks and heavy inspections to plan
- Inspect and repair metal and composite structures
- Treat corrosion and apply protective finishes
- Coordinate independent inspections on flight controls and engine controls
- Manage hangar safety including jacking, fuel and working at height

Who works here
Kirsten Holm
Kirsten manages heavy check inputs and structural repairs, holds a structures authorisation and joined AeroTech seven years ago from a repair station in Europe.
Tyler Whitcombe
Tyler is a third year mechanical apprentice working on scheduled checks and structures under supervision and keeps the hangar tool control board.

Aircraft Work Orders
The register of line and base maintenance work orders and check inputs for every customer aircraft with their status and certifying engineer.
Defect and Deferred Defect Log
The log of pilot reported and maintenance found defects, their assessment, rectification and any deferral limits.
Tool Control and Calibration Register
The register of special tools, ground equipment and measuring and test equipment with calibration status, location and loan records.
