The situation

What has happened

VH-SFT, a single engine piston trainer, is part way through a 100 hourly inspection under WO-26-1180 and is grounded because a 10 millimetre spanner was unaccounted for at the end of the afternoon shift (SR-26-088). Skyreach want the aircraft back on Friday. Marcus Delaney wants you to take over the check: complete the remaining task cards including the differential compression check and the control cable inspection, arrange the independent inspection of the flight controls, and run a documented tool search of the engine bay and cowls under the tool control procedure. If the work runs past your shift a proper handover record is required.

Your brief. Progress the scheduled inspection through its remaining task cards using calibrated tools and correct records, complete a documented search for the missing tool, arrange independent inspection of flight control work, and prepare a shift handover if the work continues past your shift.

What to look for

Evidence guide

Look for a systematic documented tool search before any further work, correct use and recording of calibrated equipment, compression readings compared with limits, and an independent inspection arranged with a different person. The handover record, if used, must capture open panels and tools. The student must not release the aircraft themselves and must escalate the tool decision to the supervisor.

The student's evidence summary lists every record they created or changed in the systems named above, their notes and the tasks they ticked. Verify it against the deliverables and your own assessment tool.
