Purpose. Use this template at every shift change to record the exact state of each aircraft and task so the incoming crew can continue safely.

1.How to use this template

The outgoing supervisor completes the record for each aircraft in work and briefs the incoming supervisor face to face using it. Both sign. The record is filed with the work pack. A task must never be handed over verbally alone.

2.Aircraft status

For each aircraft record the registration, the work order or check, the tasks completed, the tasks in progress with the last verified step, and the tasks not started.

3.Open items

List every open panel, disconnected system, jacked or towed condition, installed lock or flag, temporary fitting and untested system. These are the items most often missed after a handover.

  • Open panels and access doors
  • Disconnected controls, lines or connectors
  • Aircraft on jacks or with ground locks fitted
  • Systems depowered or isolated
  • Temporary fittings and warning flags

4.Tools, parts and people

Record tools issued and not returned, parts on order or awaiting inspection, and any staff fatigue or fitness concerns relevant to the incoming shift.

5.Sign off

The outgoing and incoming supervisors sign and time the record. Unresolved questions must be raised with the Base Maintenance Manager before the outgoing supervisor leaves.
