Purpose. This register records the licences, company authorisations, type training, human factors training and other qualifications of every technical worker.

1.Purpose of the register

The business may only allow appropriately licensed and authorised personnel to certify maintenance. This register is the record that supports every authorisation issued and is the reference supervisors use when allocating and certifying work. It is maintained by the Quality and Safety Manager.

2.What is recorded

Each person's entry records their licence category and ratings, the company authorisations held with their scope and expiry, type and systems training completed, human factors and fatigue training dates, drug and alcohol education, apprenticeship stage, and any limitations.

  • Licence category and type ratings
  • Company authorisation scope and expiry
  • Type and systems training
  • Human factors training due date
  • Limitations and supervision requirements

3.Issuing an authorisation

An authorisation will be issued only after the Quality and Safety Manager verifies the licence, the training and recent experience on the type, and the department supervisor confirms competence. The authorisation certificate is issued to the person and the register updated the same day.

4.Current status

The register currently lists 31 licensed engineers with 74 active authorisations across 14 aircraft types and 9 component categories, 12 apprentices at stages one to four, and 43 other technical staff. Three authorisations are due for renewal in October and human factors refresher training is due for 11 staff before December.

5.Suspension and withdrawal

An authorisation will be suspended when the licence, training or recent experience lapses, or following an investigation finding. The person must not certify while suspended and supervisors will be notified in writing.

6.Review

The register will be reviewed monthly for expiries and audited annually against personnel files.
